Question Should I get 6800 or 6750 XT while I still can?

I have a i7-11700 + 6700 combo at the moment. The card is "okay", but kind of getting too slow (I'm playing at 1440p)... While RDNA2 has 2 decent offerings in form of 6750 XT or 6800, RDNA3 is 7600/7600 XT, which are too slow or 7700 XT upwards and these are a bit too expensive, at least now. NVIDIA has nothing interesting in this price range (4060 Ti 16 GB is 497 USD).
Currently I can have:
a/ 6800 for 427 USD
b/ 6750 XT for 418 USD
c/ 6700 XT for 399 USD

7700 XT is 493 USD. Prices are Euopean, so don't be shocked :).

I estimate to get 250 - 275 for my card. I know that upgrading means also getting a new PSU (I'd get the ATX 3.0 one, so that;s 115 USD on top), which means quite a spend. Since I'm in no big hurry to upgrade, should I:
a/ get the 6800 that seems to be the best deal
b/ wait until 7700 XT drops in price (will it?)
c/ wait until RDNA4 shows up (possible it will have a decent ~180W TDP card?)

The RX 6800 and 7700 XT have basically the same performance and about the same power requirements, but the 6800 has more VRAM and may serve you better for longer if VRAM is something you think will be an issue for something like modding games.

Depending on what you have for a PSU, you may not even need to upgrade to support a RX 6800, since that card and the 7700 XT are only drawing around 75watt more than your RX 6700, or basically a second PCI-E cable.

The PSU is Corsair RM550x and I am aware that that's to be changed. Could go with 4060 Ti 16GB as an alternative, that would do with 550W and would be on 6700/6750 XT performance level with being cheaper than the AMD + PSU combo.

The 4060 TI is about 20% slower than the RX 6800. You're better off getting the 6800 and a new 650-750watt PSU than a 4060 TI, if you decide to upgrade. You would have a faster GPU and a PSU that can handle future upgrades if you decide to upgrade again in a year when the next generation of cards start getting released.

Personally, I wouldn't upgrade anything if it's not at least a 50% upgrade and I would instead wait til til the end of the year to see what AMD or NVIDIA release. That being said though, if you're able to sell the 6700, the 6800 would be worth the upgrade. The 6800 is about a 35% upgrade over the 6700.

I am pretty sure RDNA4 will be better than RDNA3, which is kind of underwhelming, but price-wise 6800 16GB is cheaper and on par regarding performance with 7700 XT 12 GB and who knows what happens next... Tuff one, to be honest.
I'm sure I'll sell the 6700, question is how much will I get for it :).

Yes, the 6800 dropped slightly back in price to 389 EUR while 7700 XT is 430 EUR, so I'll be taking the 6800.

Any suggestions for the cheapest 750W+ PSU that is still decent?
