Question 2nd monitor (DP) connects for 30 seconds then cannot be detected, how to resolve?

i am running win11 pro
ryzen 9 - 7900
Asrock X670E RS Pro mobo (1 x HDMi and 1 x Display Port)
32GB Gskill RAM
WD sn850x nvme SSD
MSi pro MP251 monitors
24 HDD

i am having a night mare trying to connect a 2nd monitor
right now i have got to the point where:
i delete hidden 2nd monitor from device manager
plug in the display port cable
the 2nd monitor immediately displays windows
then 30 seconds later disconnects the 2nd monitor and cannot detect it again

chain of events:
i cloned windows from old rig
fired up windows with 1 monitor connected via HDMi (all good)
before installing any drivers for this new rig, i connected both monitors, one by HDMi and one by DP
when booted up windows displayed through the DP monitor only
windows was fine and i was using just the DP monitor for a while
then i installed all latest drivers from AMD
then only had display on the HDMi monitor
goes into windows settings to force detect but 2nd monitor not found
goto device manager and remove the hidden monitor and it is as above
i connect the DP cable the monitor displays windows (so dual display, detected in AMD adrenaline)
before i can really do anything the DP monitor goes black and then the DP monitor cannot be detected again

anyone have this issue or a way to resolve?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

i cloned windows from old rig
What were the specs to your older rig? You should reinstall the OS after creating your bootable USB installer for your OS if your older rig's motherboard is not the same as the new rig's motherboard.

This was my next step to reset OS if all else fails
yes previous was diff spec (threadripper w/ 1070)
although i have cloned windows to different machines many rimes and never had an issue once needed drivers were installed
all previous drivers were removed using DDU for DDs,
and drivers for all new hardware installed

will perform in place upgrade repair shortly and see if it helps, then post back

An in place repair is useless if you switched motherboards with different chip-sets.
It will repair windows files but not the registry.

All of the old registry settings will still be there. Which could have you chasing errors forever.
In place repair failed anyway
will try fresh install
although i do have another rig with same cpu and mobo and same issue it seems

i have confirmed the issue is the same on another near identical rig that OS was not cloned from a diff spec rig
(Just diff RAM and SSD)
so this rules out anything that may have been caused by drivers etc as a result of cloning OS from diff spec rig
issue remains
i uninstall monitor from device manager
then connect the DP cable
the 2nd DP monitor comes on and all seems fine
then about 30 seconds later the screen turns black and it's gone and undetectable

i do have a different DP to HDMi adapter on order
but i was using the DP cable just fine for an hour or so before installing AMD drivers
so am doubtful this may resolve anything
