Interesting to see both favourable (here) and completely unfavourable reviews (on other sites) for this monitor. This alone makes it a very questionable choice, despite the great design.

The only right thing to do now is to buy NOTHING, not used, not even from retail, absolutely nothing unless you have no other choice (i.e. current GPU died). Miners and scalpers gave hell to all gamers searching for a decent GPU for the past year, now it is time to give them the same treatment...

Provided this card is a good ETH miner, and I see no reason for it not to be, it is dead in the water on launch day, at least for gamers. Any news on GPUs these days are tending to be more depressing.

It does not, sadly. It supports up to SSE4a only. Still, you can try to install, some apps claim that specific instruction set is a requirement, when in fact it only contributes to better performance. So it might work in the end, but slow. Or you might be out of luck completely and the app...

It will work, but most likely at 3200 speed instead of 3600. Use slots 1 and 2, that should allow dual channel.

Realistically, this will never happen as long as there is a strong (almost crazy) demand due to increasing crypto prices. There will always be people willing to shell out as much as 3x the MSRP for mining hardware, if not more. This is a very fertile ground for scalpers, and they won't go away...

That's nothing, I have seen 8GB models (mostly ROG STRIX and MSI Gaming X) going for as high as 400 EUR on second-hand markets here in Croatia. Incredible!

I wonder where is the limit. When they release 3050, will it experience the same fate, regardless of having only 4GB of memory? As far as I can see, miners are gladly using even 4GB cards. This is madness.

Completely useless, driver hacks will very soon (probably 1 or 2 days after release) unlock all driver limitations and here we go again...

Which sound card? If you are using only onboard, it is very commonto have this kind of hiss due to EMI all around the computer case and onboards components are usually not properly shielded. A good soundcard in most cases resolves this.

By all means get a quality power supply from reputable brands (my favourite is Corsair RM650x). Yeah, even 550W would be enough provided you don't heavily OC anything, but it still needs to be a quality PSU. Wattage itself does not tell anything about PSU internals - you can buy cheap PSUs which...

The only GPU you can purchase these days is a painted one, it seems :)

As stated above, the motherboard has no built-in graphics output of any kind and you cannot get any graphics here without a graphics card which needs to be installed in the PCI-e slot. The graphics card will have display outputs which can then either be used directly or with a converter to VGA...

I certainly hope that this does not become another piece of hardware on shortlist for scalpers... We got more than enough of that already.

What game was that specifically? Some are written badly and cannot even utilize new hardware. Or your resolution (or details) is simply too low for that powerful GPU (especially if the game is old), or you have vsync on which limits GPU usage...

It will be just fine. This is a decent PSU and you will even have some headroom left. And that is only provided you run your rig at 100% GPU and 100% CPU usage at the same time, all the time. Which you never will.

True. I will take a wild guess here that minimum = 1080p 30fps low, recommended = 1080p 30fps medium/high without RTX. Wish it was 60fps, but highly doubt it.

No problem at all, it is a good PSU and within the recommended specs for 1070Ti. As long as you don't heavily OC anything, it will be fine.

As you are already aware, you have mixed RAMs. In some cases this works, in others, well... a small change in system config and all hells breaks loose. This is not severe in your case, as simply half RAM is left unrecognized, but still... Nevertheless, getting even a single error in memtest...

Does this happen in other games as well, or just this particular one? Also, does it happen when you fully load BOTH your CPU and GPU (Furmark + prime95) simultaneously? Symptoms you described usually happen due to inadequate PSU, especially kernel 41 error. Your PSU seems to be good enough...

The 1070 would certainly be bottlenecked in second slot, but that hugely depends on the application. In some it would be noticeable, in others not at all. Why not try and see ;) Just make sure you set the second slot manually to PCI.e 3.0 in BIOS, as 2.0 is 2x slower.

It would work for sure. How good, well that depends on a particular game. The more GPU intensive it is, the better performance you would get.

I would steer clear from attemtpting to upgrade the CPU on this. Reasons are multiple: laptops with soldered CPUs are designed to NOT be upgraded - otherwise they would have a socket for easy swap. Makes sense, doesn't it ;) BIOSes on most laptops are usually very picky in terms of possible...

This was an interesting read indeed. CPUs are indeed rarely prone to failure by themselves, provided they are cooled properly. Usually it will hepen because of overvoltage (either in BIOS or by bad PSU, and naturally lightning strikes and similar) or prolonged overheating. No idea why your GPU...

You should not worry. It is possible that it was not seated fully the first time.

Agreed. The days of 4 core (no HT) CPUs are over, at least as far as gaming is concerned. You could upgrade to 4th gen i7 (say, i7 4790 or i7 4770) and that would remove some of the bottleneck for sure, but such CPUs are quite expensive even 2nd hand. Your call.

Nothing you can do here, full rebuild required. New CPU (at least hexa-core) and mobo, new DDR4 RAM (preferably 16GB) and a much faster GPU as well. RDR2 is notorious for being slow even on a much faster rigs than yours, so that's what it takes unfortunately.

Short answer: any SSD you get will be immensely faster than your current HDD. Also, all of them can last even much longer than 5 years in classic home environments, so no worries there. I'd get MX500 or 860 EVO as well.
