I know there are a lot of these threads out there and I looked at all of them I could find but still have this problem. I have very limited computer knowledge as I am a console peasant and so I won't understand much tech-talk so go easy on me. I have tried all of the solutions that I could find and like I previously stated I still am getting this error message when attempting to install the drivers on my 7770. Also, after installing my 7770 my resolution changed and when I attempted to change it back my previous resolution wasn't an option. If you need any more details I will gladly give them to you. Remember, this is my first post so take it easy.

Any help is appreciated.

My board is a ga-78lmt-usb3. my cpu is a AMD 4X 4300 (Yes I'm cheap I know). When you say current do you mean my previous graphics card/the one I'm replacing? No, I haven't installed the drivers this is the problem. When I pop in the disk to install the drivers it says "Please Install VGA Cards of ASUS". No, I haven't updated the board drivers I've only had the computer for a few months and didn't think my board's drivers had become outdated. The only thing I've done in BIOS is change my settings from PCI to PEG.

You may need to update your BIOS to recognize new devices or fix bugs between the board, windows, or other devices. The drivers are optimized for your board instead of the generic windows drivers. Here is the link to your board. Pick your board revision and OS and it will list available drivers including updated VGA drivers. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4305#dl

After installing that then go to Asus site for the drivers for your specific card and OS. This should hopefully get your drivers installed correctly.

Edit***
Wait on the BIOS update until after trying just the graphics to see if that helps. PEG and PCIe are the same thing. Setting your mobo to PCI just means that the BIOS will look for a video card on the PCI slot 1st and if none found will then look at the PCI-E slot.

Ah, ok. I'll let you know if it works, thank you for the help. Any thoughts about my resolution setting changing and then not showing up as an option when I go to change it?

Get the drivers from gigabyte first, check your resolution and see how it looks. Install the drivers from Asus 2nd, look to see if it has fixed any issues you may have noticed with just the board drivers installed.

Save as. If it is zipped then it will have to be opened forst. Then click on the exe file and it should install. If not then go to device manager, click on update driver, go to where you saved/unzipped the file and you should be all set.

When I select display adapters it only shows "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter". Am I doing something wrong?

Ok it's not working. So I need to update my BIOS with the GIGABYTE link?

This sounds complicated. How would I reset the CMOS and reinstall the backed up BIOS. I told you I suck with technology and have a very limited understanding of anything tech related really.

I'm in over my head. It would probably be best to reinstall my old gpu. What a waste of money 🙁
