today i'm going to show you how to speed up the Internet Download Manager merging speed
if you're a professional download man and downloading large file is your normal job this method would be really interesting because it can speed up the merging of files up to 70* faster.
requirement:
1-USB 3.0 or 3.1 port
2-USB 3.0 flash drive (the size depend on size of your downloading files for example if you usually downloading under 60 gigabyte files you'll have to have a 64 gigabyte flash drive)---(it should be empty while you're using it for safety purposes )
Caution: if you paused any file you where downloading in past first you have to complete them because changing the temporary direction in the middle of downloading process would cause data corruption and you will lose your half downloaded data.
steps:
go to
1-Downloads>Options>Save to
2-Temporary Directory>Browse>
3-Chose the flash drive you connected
5-Click OK
after that your downloaded files will be saved in the flash drive and merging operation will be there too and that is lot faster then the computer original hard drive because it can operate at speed between 120 Mbps / 150 Mbps and it's a huge difference compare to HDD.
The tested Result:
i was downloading a 25 gigabyte file and merging time on my black Western Digital 500 GB was around 55 Minutes .
i applied the method and the after that i downloaded a 34 gigabyte file and merging time was 20 Minutes.it's 100 % working.
