Like it or loathe it, Windows Store is an integral part of Windows 10 and the main way to add apps to your computer. While it works well most of the time, it does throw up the occasional issue. One quick way to overcome many of these issues is to reset the cache. So if your computer is playing up and you want to clear and reset the Windows Store cache in Windows 10, here’s how to do it.

Quick note: If like me, you use a third-party firewall, make sure you enable Windows Firewall when downloading from the Windows Store. For some reason, Windows 10 will only interact correctly with the Store when Windows Firewall is active. You can always disable it once you’re finished.

It is quick and easy to clear and reset the Windows Store cache in Windows 10.

1. Open a CMD window as an administrator.
2. Type or paste ‘WSReset.exe’.
3. Let the process complete.

Or:

1. Type or paste ‘WSReset.exe’ into the Search Windows box.
2. Select ‘WSReset.exe’ from the menu.
3. Let the process complete.

Once the process completes you should be able to browse the Windows Store and download apps as normal.

Remember to turn Windows Firewall back off if you use a third party firewall. Having two software firewalls running at once can cause issues with connectivity.
