Scanners have been a part of an office environment for a long time since technology found its way to replace photocopiers for digital correspondence. This tutorial will address how to download and install drivers necessary for the optimal performance for your CanoScan LiDE device.
- ■Open your web browser and type canon-europe.com/support/consumer_products/product_ranges/scanners/ and hit enter.
■Scroll down and click on the CanoScan LiDE Series tab.
■On the new menu, select the model that corresponds to your unit. For the sake of this tutorial we're going to go ahead with CanoScan LiDE 120.
■in the new window, you will be greeted with two drop down menu's, one for your OS (as well as platform architecture) and the preferred language. The engine should detect your current OS.
Scrolling down you'll see a shortlist of drivers meant for your OS, device and language.
■It's advised to download the latest available drivers if the recommended drivers are a little dated.
■Click on the Download button.
■Accept the disclaimer and save the file onto a suitable destination on your drive.
■Locate the executable and run in an elevated command, i.e; Right click and Run as Administrator.
■Before clicking on Next to begin installation, it's a good idea to look through the language in which the drivers will be installed in.
■Select your region and click on Next.
■Select your place of residence.
■Make sure that ScanGear is selected as this encompasses the necessary drivers for the scanner to operate. You may also install My Image Garden to easily manage your images/scans. Click on Next.
■Accept the licence agreement to continue.
■The download should commence and may take some time depending on your internet connections speed.
If your scanner wasn't connected to your system prior to installation, do so now and wait a while for the system to take note of your unit.
■Upon completion click on Exit to close the installation window.
You have now successfully installed drivers for your CanoScan LiDE unit.
