The hibernation feature within the Windows operating system can be a useful feature if you would like to create a snapshot of your pc rather than shutting it down. Any open programs or documents will be re-opened once you turn your computer back on. By default, the hibernation feature is not enabled on recent version of Windows. As such, you will have to manually enable hibernation mode using the following steps.

Update Power Options:

The first step is to access the Power Options menu by right clicking on the Windows Button, and clicking “Power Options”.

Next, click the “Choose that the power buttons do” link – located in the left pane.

Once the Power Settings menu appears, click on the link below the Power Buttons section – “Change settings that are currently unavailable”. Once you have clicked this, the window should expand (you may have to scroll down to see all content). Choose the features that you would like to enable and click “Save Changes” button.

Lastly, navigate to the Metro screen and click the power options button – the hibernation button should now be displayed.
