How to install fonts in Windows 10

There are literally thousands of fonts that you can use in Windows 10. Windows itself carries quite a few, but there are lots more out there you can download and use should you wish to. If you would like to install fonts in Windows 10, here’s how to do it.

Windows 10 supports external fonts as long as they are in the correct format. Most of the font repositories on the internet are usable, just remember to only download files from trusted sources.

Install fonts in Windows 10
There are two main ways to install fonts in Windows 10.

1. Download your font(s) of choice from a trusted source.
2. Extract the file if it is in .zip or .rar format.
3. Right click the extracted file and select install, or just double click it.

Or:

1. Download your font(s) of choice from a trusted source.
2. Extract the file if it is in .zip or .rar format.
3. Navigate to C:\Windows\fonts in Windows Explorer.
4. Drag and drop your extracted font file into the folder.

Whichever method you use to install a font, you will then see a short installing fonts message before being able to use the font. Once installed, you can use it in most areas of Windows.

Uninstall a font from Windows 10
You can also uninstall fonts in Windows should you need to.

1. Navigate to C:\Windows\fonts in Windows Explorer.
2. Highlight the font you want to delete.
3. Select the Delete text link at the top of the window.

This will remove the font from Windows. If you were using the font for a program, it will select the default font the next time you open that program.
