Installing Skyrim is usually a fairly simple process if you have purchased it through Steam, but if you are looking to mod the game in the future, then it might be best to customize the installation a bit to make that process easier for mods that don't use the mod manager.
Step 1)Purchase the game on steam.
Access the steam store and perform a search for Skyrim. I would suggest getting the legendary edition at this point, since then you will get all of the existing mods for the game up to this point.
Step 2)Access your steam library and choose to install the game.
Choose the library tab along the top of steam and find Skyrim on the left hand side. Right click on this and choose the option to install the game, rather than left clicking and finding the install game option on the right. This will give you some additional options. the main one you are looking for is the install path. Install this somewhere that is easy to find for the future.
Step 3)Wait for the game to finish downloading and installing.
Depending o the speed of your hard drive and internet connection, this can take a while. Skyrim is a pretty big game, so be patient.
Once the install is finished, hit play in steam, or find the desktop icon if you chose to create one, and enjoy!
