How to enable Auto Unlock on your Mac with iPhone ?
There are different ways available to pair your MacBook Pro with your Apple Watch or iPhone. One of such ways is using the Mac ID app.
To get the process up and running, you need the Mac ID app for iOS and its free counterpart for your MacBook Pro and other Macs you want to unlock. The Mac ID app allows you to remotely lock your Mac (if you are within range). The following steps will show you how to pair your MacBook Pro with your IPhone using the Mac ID app.

1. Download and install Mac ID on your iPhone and MacBook Pro.
Download the Mac ID app for iOS on your iPhone (you need to pay $4) and its free counterpart for your MacBook.

2. Go to 'System preferences' > 'Security' and 'Privacy' > 'General'
At this point you need to click on the option which allow the apps to downloaded from Mac app store and other identified developers. By default, always the Mac app store is selected, which is why there is a need to change it.

3. Lock or wake your Mac up.
After this, open Mac ID app on your MacBook and click on 'Setup' (The app would start searching for your iPhone) > Select your iPhone once it pops up on the screen > Click on 'Continue' > Enter your User Password that you have already set on the Mac > Click 'Finish'. This will take you to the next page where you would see the options 'Lock', 'Wake' and 'Authorize'.

4. Authorize your Mac with your iPhone. Choose the Authorize option in the iOS version of the Mac ID app on your iPhone to authorize your MacBook by entering your password or a touch id.

Now you can lock or wake your Mac up by clicking on the appropriate option.
