How To

No Man's Sky System Requirements

No man's Sky is set to be an absolutely massive galaxy to explore, and when I was first looking into it I had assumed it would require a lot to run it because it just looks so great and is just so massive. Turns out, video card wise, you won't actually need a heavy duty system to run this. Mostly you are going to need a lot of hard drive space and a decent amount of RAM.

Ram Requirements.
This is the biggest requirement of the game really, and at 8GB of RAM it's still a pretty reasonable one. With RAM being so easy to upgrade and this being the highest requirement of the game, No Man's Sky should be accessible to even the casual gamer who doesn't have a very high end system. Which is great, because we're going to need all the explorers we can get to visit all 18 quadrillion plants this game has to offer!

Video Card.
The minimum graphics card required for this is going to be the GTX 480 graphics card or higher. This specific card has 1.5GB of on board RAM and I was able to find it for sale for as low as $80, very reasonable to be able to run this game. With a lot of current games requiring at least 2GB of on board RAM, this should be an easy specification to meet. Your video card is also going to require support for OpenGL4.5, which was not released originally in the minimum specifications, but has since been said is required by the developers on twitter.

Processor requirements
For No Man's Sky you are going to need an Intel Core i3 processor or better, this is again a very reasonable requirement as these are duel core processors that can run as low at 3.2GHz with a 3.0 MB cache size. As of right now, your processor will also need to support SSE 4.1. If it does not you will not even be able to open the game and it will crash to desktop immediately, though the developers are reportedly working on a fix for this that will probably come in a patch in the next few days.
