Morris is another one of those characters with which you cannot build up a relationship with. You cannot give him any gifts and therefore his dialogue does not change towards you. He is the Manager of the Joja Mart that is located in the town. He is also the Representative of Customer Relations and tries to keep the people happy with Joja mart in the town.
If you recall the beginning of the game Joja is the company you used to work for but the life was so soul-sucking that you had to get away. Therefore Morris can be seen as somewhat of the villain of the game as he is trying to take over the Community Center using the money.
Morris’ Schedule:
Morris is completely devoted to Joja Mart and you can always find him there. You will never see him outside the mart, even in festivals. Joja Mart is open from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm every day and that is where you will find Morris, sitting behind the counter ready to sell you a Joja Mart Membership just for 5000 gold.
Morris’ Events:
There are a few events that can happen regarding Morris. The game sets up Morris as the “bad guy”, the rich city man who thinks that the only way forward is through capitalism and big business. He actively tries to poach clients from Pierre’s, the only other general store in the town. In fact, there is an event where you will see Morris walk into Pierre’s shop and hand out coupons.
All the customers leave Pierre’s shop and go to the Joja Mart when in fact Pierre’s goods are cheaper than Joja Mart’s.
In another event Morris sends Pierre a letter in which he tells Pierre how backwards he and his way of thinking is. In the letter he makes it sound as if he is the better person even though Morris is working for a company and Pierre is managing his own business. Morris’ goal is to put Pierre out of business and therefore his Mart will be the only place where people can buy stuff.
Morris’ Quests:
There is only one quest which involves Morris. The quest “Rebuilding the Community Center” has two alternative endings. The first one is long, hard and a lot more fun. You will have to complete various bundles for the forest folk that have moved into the Center. They rebuild the Center and once it is finished they leave and the Community Center is open to all.
This forces Joja Mart to shut down and Morris to leave. The other ending is a lot faster. You can help Morris to buy the Community Center by purchasing a Joja Mart Membership after which the Community Center is transformed into a Joja Warehouse.
In the end it is up to you which route you want to take but be warned, once you select the Membership there is no going back. The other way may seem hard but it is definitely worth it as you get rewards for every bundle you complete and it is a fun way to experience all that the game has to offer.
