Stardew Valley - Guide to Farming Trees

Trees are often overlooked by players when it comes to Stardew Valley simply because of how expensive they are and how long it takes for them to bear fruit. Add the fact that they only give fruit during specific seasons, means that that tree farming looks less and less appealing but fret not! We know how good a fruit-laden tree looks and we have compiled a guide so that you can pick and choose what, where and when to plant.

Walkthrough:

1) The first thing that you need to keep in mind is that saplings cost a lot of money. They can range from 2000 gold to even 6000 gold. If that price seems high to you then we recommend advancing other parts of your farm because tree farming is very gold intensive and has a slow return but if you can afford a couple of saplings then you need to decide a place for them. Keep in mind that once they are planted, they cannot be taken down unless you chop them down. You do not get the sapling back and you cannot plant the fruit that they bear. Therefore space is an issue because fruit trees require their 8 adjacent tiles to be clear. Once you have cleared the space out you can plant them.
2) The second thing that you need to decide is what to plant. There are 6 different types of fruit trees and they give fruit in different seasons but do give fruits every day during that season. Here is the complete list of fruit trees so that you can choose what to plant.
- Apricot: Only produces fruit in the spring. The sapling for this tree costs 2000 g. An Apricot sells from 50g to 100 g depending on the quality.

After you have planted your trees you still need to keep in mind that if any object is
placed in the 8 adjacent tiles it will stop the tree from growing and bearing fruit. Also
keep in mind that trees do not grow in the Winter. The best way to circumvent the
season issue is to fix up your greenhouse and plant your trees in there. That way
they will give you fruit all year round and take up much less space. Also the greenhouse has dedicated fruit tree space so it looks really pretty with different fruit
trees. It is also recommended to make items from the fruit such as jam because
those items sell for a lot more than the fruit.
