To put it into perspective about the 2GB ram you have, my work laptop is currently running windows 7 64bit enterprise. According to Task Manager, I am using 2.8GB of RAM with just a virtual machine 2 instances of chrome, and a few work related pieces of software. My work laptop has only 4GB of RAM.

Have you tried the Performance Monitor thing I suggested? It would point you in the right direction as to which piece of hardware is being stressed. No-one will be able to say 'Oh yes, this is whats wrong with it' without some research going into it your end to narrow it down.

Is there much clutter on the machine? Under task manager, what is your CPU usage and Memory usage when playing video content? Does the video itself lag or run flawlessly?
