update my screen randomly went black and it looks like vsync is enabled

it's not obvious all the time but it definitely is obvious when I'm scrolling forward or backward on mt4. in earlier versions of windows you could force vsync with aero but not anymore. is this just a problem with the software itself? I have installed the latest drivers for my video card.
