Is that not because the mem controller is on the board? On a xeon the mem controller is on the cpu. Therefore the board shouldnt be a factor after a bios update.

Hi guys. Does anybody know for sure if the Deluxe V2 with a Xeon x5650 cpu can take ECC REG ram?

Got it. I just want to make sure if these boards are compatible with Win10? Someone said that the P6T WS Pro isn't compatible with Win10 or has problems with drivers. The WS Pro isn't far removed from the Deluxe V2.

So how is your oced Dx58so? I bought the same specs but havent received them yet. Curious. I read somewhere that the board wont bclck over 160??

This page says ECC is supported. https://ark.intel.com/products/36888/Intel-Desktop-Board-DX58SO I guess that is only if you use a xeon cpu. However, no sign of ''registered'' ram..

Can I use ECC ddr3L ram in a Dx58SO board (with a xeon of course)? I know that the board does not support ddr3L or ECC ram natively but with the x5650 internal memory controller it should be possible. If I can at least get ECC memory to work in this board I'd be happy.

Does anybody know if the Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P mobo can take a xeon x5650 and ecc ram? From what I gather it sort of can (?) take a x5650 but can't overclock well. Jury still out on ecc ram.

It is pc3 10600r. Why shouldn't it be registered ram? I thought registered is exactly what a x58 platform uses? Still, I have also never heard of dual server ram..

I wanted to buy some ecc ram but the ad said ''dual server board only''. My x58 board only has one cpu socket. Is there such a thing as ''dual server board ram''? Does this mean these sticks won't work in my single socket board???

Single. I just basically want to know if the power consumption is really so high.

Im going for the cheap generic boards that support xeons. My worry is then that they consume too much power (700W!). Not a worthwhile setup then if my electric is going nuclear. I dont even know if my psu will handle an x5650/60....
