a GTX 970, yes for sure. It can easily max any recent game release. You should be plenty happy with it for at least 2 years, probably 3-4.

Desktop processors and Server processors are meant for completely tasks. Its hard to explain but for a server, get a server processor, for a desktop, get a desktop processor. and i7 cpu will not be a replacement for any Xeon processor that isn't ancient.

Umm It probably will but considering the age of your system I would save the money and start saving for a budget PC. You can get something much, much, better for about 200 USD

Well restart your PC. Most of the problems I have ever had with my pc were derived from Windows 8 being a piece of crap, or me being to lazy to restart my PC more than once a week.

Yeah, just save. Just set a time frame of how long you think you can wait. Save as much money as you can until that time and do not start building a pc before that time. In general, until you hit about the $1400 mark on a computer, the more you spend, the better value you'll be getting.

Did you enable AMD Dual Graphics. If you did, try disabling it. I don't know how to do it though lul.

Okay here is the thing, if you are going to be playing mostly minecraft @1080p, just get a 750 Ti for about $150. You do not need a GTX 970 unless you plan to play games like Crysis 3, or Far Cry 4, etc., at max settings. Save your money. A 750 Ti should make you plenty happy even if you want to...

OK, but seriously, can you elaborate on your problem. I need more info to get a vague idea of what is going on. Do you have horrible fps 24/7? Or is it just huge lag spikes? etc.
