    In sum, no. Wait for RTX benchmarks (particularly the RTX 2070) and AMD's 7nm GPUs. For Gaming, SLI is most often not recommended.

    If the choice was mine, I'd pick up the 8th Gen. The overall size (15" v 17") and power efficiency should also be considered. The GTX 1070 Max-Q isn't too much slower. GTX 1080 Max-Q, on the other hand, is significantly slower than the regular GTX 1080.

    Definitely buy closed-back headphones. V-Moda Crossfade M-100 is extremely popular at £200. Although expensive, the Bose QuietComfort series is an option. Also, Tom's recommended Plantronics BackBeat PRO 2 and Sennheiser HD 4.50 as top wireless, noise-cancellation headphones.
