See screenshot. I'm pretty sure that the numberin is different argus vs HWMonitor here. Looks like:
CPU in HWM -> Fan 1 in Argus
SYS1 -> Fan 3
SYS3 -> Fan 5
SYS6 -> Fan 8
Does that seem right? Why is the numbering different? I think the HWM numbering follows how the headers are identified...
Thanks to @Colif and @punkncat for your input.
FWIW, I just jumped into a Microsoft support chat and asked them this question. The rep said I could either do a wipe & clean install, or I could do an "in-place upgrade", which they said would retain my installed programs and user data. They...
I just replaced my motherboard and CPU. I went from:
MSI B350 motherboard to MSI B550
Ryzen 1300X to 5600X
Everything else stayed the same (GPU, memory, etc.) It booted cleanly after the install, Windows Update prompted me to install a few new AMD drivers, and since then it seems to be...
Thanks, GobbleBear, but I think you did not fully understand my question.
You seem to be talking about case fans. These are not case fans, they are fans on the CPU cooler.
I did not buy the two cooler fans separately. They came with the cooler. And they only have a clip on one side. So...
Just upgraded my system to a 5600X with new mobo and Noctua NH-12A cooler. Noctua's directions seemed to indicate which fan should go on which side of the cooler, but after install it seems to be blowing toward the front of the case. Here's a pic:

What's the best way to tell which motherboards have this feature? I'm about to buy a new mobo for a 5600X and would like to have this option. Current plan is to get this MSI B550-A PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard (B550-A PRO) - PCPartPicker but might switch to get the fan delay feature.
Yeah, I've come to the same conclusion. Although the last part seems questionable since I bought my last mobo only 3-4 years ago and now I'm already replacing it. But still seems like the way to go.
Now I just need to figure out which cooler to get. Hoping to go a little smaller than the...
Thanks Drea! Can you say a little bit more about this? I have read what VRM is although I know very little about it. But what I did read said it was mostly a concern to gamers and especially overclockers. I am neither -- as I said in the OP, this is a work machine being used mostly for...
Thanks Aeacus for your reply. Very helpful illustration of the tradeoffs!
One question though, re this:
Can you explain why 2700X is the best you think I could do w/ current mobo? According to MSI it should support 3000-series CPUs and I would expect those would be better?
Looking at...
I built my current system in 2018. I'm not much of a gamer, and this is mostly a work machine (heavy multitasking, programming, video conferencing, etc.) It's been great but is starting to slow down a little. For instance, if I have lots of stuff open (browser tabs and apps) and am in a zoom...
I currently have two 24" 1080p monitors, and am thinking about replacing one with a larger and higher resolution screen, probably a 27" 4k or 1440p. My graphics card should be able to handle it. This is for work, I'm not a gamer. My question is whether having 2 screens of different...
Can someone help me figure out if there is a 32GB kit out there that is truly compatible w/ my setup? I looked at the compatible RAM list on MSI's site (clicking on Summit Ridge since as I understand it, that's what my CPU is) and i get this...
