    In bios it recognizes both the hard drive and the disk drive. It will also pick up on thumb drive when inserted.

    Asus R503U. Windows 8 64 bit pre-installed. turn it on and just goes to bios straight away. Can change a few settings in bios and it will display an Asus screen then tells me to insert boot media and select proper drive. is the hard drive toast or the motherboard?
