    The CPU requires a water cooler which I don't have. If I underclock it it should run fine. It is just insufficient cooling. I hope... What is a VRM?

    He had an FX-8150 I think (I know it started with an 8) I have his old CPU but it had overheating problems...

    The CPU was used I have no idea if it was well taken care of (It was a little to cheap to be true). The motherboard was also used, i got it from a friend who was upgrading but he kept it in perfect condition.

    I formatted my drive before installing windows on it. I tried what you said with Overdrive and my computer went to a black screen (I don't know if that counts as crashing). I eventually forced the computer to turn off because even though the computer was still on it wouldn't leave the black...

    I have tried just leaving the defaults. No matter what I do it doesn’t change. Maybe the cpu is defective.

    It seems to be the multiplier how can you change that?

    I turned APM off and nothing changed...

    All of the power settings I manually turned to maximum performance and power saving settings to off except APM because it had no description so I didn't know what it was. I will try turning it off.

    I have Windows power mode on high preformance, Cool n' Quiet off, I think that APM is on auto. And Everything in the BIOS set to high performance
