I believe that the xeon CPU's all have locked multipliers. I think you may bump it up a few times on the multiplier, but it's limited to five steps above factory setting. Look for a multiplier setting in your motherboard CPU settings..

Hi, Are you placing any other items apart from your hands and wrists on the machine? I've found that sometimes if i place my phone, or iPad onto the machine, it can sometimes activate the little magnetic sensor inside of the laptop casing, and that's what is causing is to sleep randomly.

You shouldn't have to backup. The mountain lion install should transfer it all i would think. If not, you might want to give an FTP solution a go. Install a server on the mac and a client on the PC. It shouldn't disconnect with FTP.

If you can spare the extra cash, go with the 15 inch model, the GPU that the 15 inch has is a much better option than the default intel HD graphics found in the 13" model.
