Question Recommend some cloning software to me please

Just for the record, if you happen to have a bitlocker encrypted disc that needs cloning, Casper Secure Backup is extremely powerful as a cloning tool, and their support is impressive. But it's not free.

    Toshiba 1TB SATA HDD (DT01ACA100) vs Seagate ST1000DM003 1TB

Good idea. As I've posted elsewhere on Tom's, Toshiba drives are notoriously bad for support and reliability. Mine died in 6 months, most report 2 years at best. Drives with model numbers purchased on Amazon, like...

[SOLVED] AMD R9 Directx 12: Not listed

So I'm running my most updated Windows 10 Pro, and in dxdiag I'm only seeing under features 11, nothing as a 12. I can't update it any more. AMD drivers also are fully updated. Anyone know why 12 doesn't show, or has AMD been lying since 2015 about R9 cards supporting directx 12?

ASRock BIOS and Samsung and Intel SSD Hardware encryption

If anyone knows a way I can upload this 1.70B BIOS, I'm happy to do it. Now, regarding this whole thing, here's what I do: 1. SSD is my main drive, and using the 1.70B BIOS and an ATA password, I have it encrypted. 2. I run a clone backup using Casper to backup this SSD to an HDD in a...

ASRock BIOS and Samsung and Intel SSD Hardware encryption

Welcome to the wonderful world of dyslexia. Sorry about that. I MEANT to write 1.70 is what they have posted on their site, but when you email the Taiwan ASRock tech team, they'll send you version 1.70B with the ATA Password option implemented in the BIOS. After I downloaded it, I had both...

Samsung 840 EVO SSD - how to set encryption password

I've actually posted stuff on this topic elsewhere in Tom's in more detail, and I can't speak toward the Gigabyte mobo, but I can say that from what I've found, HP laptops and Lenovo laptops have the ATA password implemented in their BIOS to enable the hardware encryption features in the Samsung...

ASRock BIOS and Samsung and Intel SSD Hardware encryption

OK, I've got some news here. Because I want to make sure this is found by people wanting an ATA Password, I'm going to throw in buzzwords like ASRock Extreme6 Z97 motherboard, Samsung 840 EVO SSD with AES encryption (or Class 0 as they call it in Driver Magician), the Intel 320 and 520 and 530...

ASRock BIOS and Samsung and Intel SSD Hardware encryption

Palorim12, I found another great post on this topic. It seems that some mobo makers, ASUS included, do not routinely provide a BIOS with ATA Password ability. Seems they are concerned about how effective a security measure it is and should a user forget their ATA Password, there's no way to...

ASRock BIOS and Samsung and Intel SSD Hardware encryption

Actually, if you do show the screenshot of the ATA Password, it will only underscore the bizarre mystery of motherboard UEFI BIOS programmers and the marketers who sell the product. Why would you not mention the ability to take advantage of hardware encryption in the Samsung 840/850 EVO and...

ASRock BIOS and Samsung and Intel SSD Hardware encryption

You the man. Thanks. If you look on the web, you'll see there's not a lot on this subject, despite the ubiquity of Samsung and Intel SSDs extolling their advantage with hardware encryption abilities.

ASRock BIOS and Samsung and Intel SSD Hardware encryption

Weird. Can't find it anywhere online that the ASUS Bios on the Sabertooth has that. Just the opposite, in fact. I don't suppose there's a chance of a screenshot?
