E6400 running at 78C temperature on load. Is this a problem?

Slipped my mind.... You didn't mention what type of cooler you are using? If its the stock get a better heatsink immediately. Overclocking for 24/7 use with the stock hsf is a bad idea if you want that proccessor to last; and its too darn loud!!

E6400 running at 78C temperature on load. Is this a problem?

I have spent alot of time on this problem. First of all it is likely that your temp sensor is off by +10 degrees celsius. Also, some of these cpu's are concave and the contact is poor. For me moving from a scythe infinity to a TT big typhhon improved my temps by 8 celsius. Now the infinity is a...

    4GB of DDR2-800 or 8GB of DDR2-533

Nice Rig Logic. BTW I want your job, lol!! I would also add that you can purchase 4 by 1gb sticks of faster and cheaper ram for roughly 500 dollars or less. If you find you need more when Adobe releases new apps or Vista comes out you can always EBAY what you have and upgrade then. BTW, this...

    4GB of DDR2-800 or 8GB of DDR2-533

I Usually just lurk around these forums. But dammit its time to start posting. With the right motherboard you can easily get your e6600 to 365fsb with little increase in voltage and virtually no increase in heat; and yes rock solid stable; likely 400fsb if you have a good cooling...

    My RAM choice for E6400

If you can..take it back! Most, if not all 965 mobo's won't let you run your ram less than 1:1 at this time. So if you plan to take your motherboard to anywhere close 400fsb then your ram must be capable of ddr 800(pc 6400) speeds. I seriously doubt that ram can handle it. 10-15 more will get...
