How accurate is the mobo temperature sensor?

I OC my opty 165 to 2.4GHz on my Asus A8N-E mobo. Room temperature is 25C and the Asus probe program is showing mobo temperature of 35C!? (even I have just switched on my computer) Does that mean the temperature sensor calibration is wrong and I can minus 10C from all the temperature reading...

Need help to tweak overclocked system, please

Thanks again for the tips, Covered_in_bees. I am now running stress test with two Prime95 and the core temperature is staying at 55 to 56C in the morning time. Is that acceptable? Actually if I run the test in stock clock, the temperature is not too far from what I am testing now. The room...

Great readings there, Covered_in_bees. Thank you!! I managed to OC my system to 2.4G (267MHz x 9) with HT multipler =x4. I am a little worried about the RAM since it is now running at 222MHz (267MHz x 333/400, that's how Asus present the memory clock divider). Any advice to further OC...

Guys, please make comments on my shopping list.

Hi all, Did some research and finally wrote down a list for my game rig. I am going overclock this system like no tomorrow. 1. CPU: Opteron 165 with stock heat sink. (Brought already, and it's probably the last one in town). 2. Mobo: Asus A8N Sli Premium. (I don't really need SLi but I heard...

    Advise to AMD Mobo please.

Thanks for the answer Mitch074. I am reading the downloaded manual of the mobo. It doesn't mention anything about manually changing the clock speed. May be I don't understand the mobo completely but does it really allow you to overclock your processor? Cheers, Alex

    Advise to AMD Mobo please.

Some more questions, guys. 1. The Asus mobo does not say it support the Athlon 64 X2, so will it support my dual core Opty 165? 2. Is it important to have SATA2 support? The Asus board seems only support SATA. (Ok I am not sure what I am talking about here, the mobo manual is confusing me)...

    Advise to AMD Mobo please.

Thanks for the advise Ultraviolet. I think the Asus A8N-SLi (no Deluxe or Premium, they just cost too much for my budget) is what I am looking for. Too bad I cannot find the DFI LP U over here. About the RAM, if I get the Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX (2x1GB) CAS2 (MY-079-CS), will it...
