Unfortunately with prices skyrocketing through the roof and beyond amidst the ongoing worldwide crisis, I can't possibly afford an 8th gen or beyond for the time being.
According to UserBenchmark: Intel Core i5-4590 vs i5-6400 , the 6400 has a core speed range of 2.7 - 3.3 GHz, while the 4590 has 3.3 GHz - 3.7 GHz.
I understand though that clock speed is not everything.
