Try getting a new fan for the stock cooler? I've never heard of a motherboard that doesn't have bracket support.

Gigabyte has better-quality motherboards than AsRock does... So Gigabyte.

As stated above, check the CPU temperatures. You might also have a bad PSU or motherboard.

When it comes to laptops there's not much else to upgrade besides RAM and the HDD. Possibly the graphics card but it might be soldered into the motherboard.

Thinkpads and other Lenovo Ultrabooks are know for being very sturdy. I used one a while back and I was impressed.

My guess is it can use up to 4 GB of your RAM? I'm not sure, but I know those APUs use RAM for graphics memory.

Who ever told you Windows 8 was bad for gaming was wrong. Benchmarks show that Windows 8 performs slightly better in gaming than Windows 7. And by Windows 7 interface, do you mean the desktop? Just press the Windows key or the Desktop tile on the Start menu.

I prefer Lenovo for ultrabooks, and ASUS for motherboards. So Lenovo.

For gaming, get the i5 and a better GPU. Games are more GPU-intensive.
