That seems really high. My 3200+ @ 2.43 idles @ 35C with the stock hsf in a fairly cramped case.

The cell Proc is exactly what you are talking about for a GPU-like CPU. Time will tell if it is as powerful as sony claims.

If u wanna wait rumour has it the new FX55 on 90nm will be hitting the streets soon with an improved mem controller and SSE3. If your gonna spend that muhc money might as well get the best.

Yes all of that is true but are u not impressed with the fact that they have gotten it to 2.4 ghz with double the cache, and still around a 100 watts? honestly i was expecting 2ghz dual core to compete with intel's 3.2 dual core as they are comparable. This means than 90nm is going well for AMD...

Lightspeed wtf are you on man? The diff between 939 and 754 is almost nothing performance-wise. And for your imformation the 3400+ on 754 outperforms the 3500+ on 939. Go figure eh?

ummmm...dont mean to make u feel like an idiot but remember when AMD changed from clawhammer to newcastle and the 3200+ went from 2.0 to 2.2? What do u think the 2.2 3400+ got changed to? I'll leave u with that thought.

oh and they fit and fully function in today's motherboards.

Ok first of all the U of S is in saskachewan buddy. Second of all, how would u know what the universities use for computers? Have u been to all of them and checked out the facilities? Have u even graduated from high school yet...?
