Unfortunately I've already bought the full sized SSD. I figure the cheapest option is just to file down the shaft and put electrical tape. It looks like the screw won't come out without surgical tools that I don't have. I just would like to know if this is a viable solution and won't screw up...

Ok thanks, I'll ask around. Replacing the component would be ideal. Another option I was considering was file down the shaft to make it flush with the socket, then just tape down the SSD with electrical tape. Is that a viable solution?
