Hey all, Currently I'm using a Netgear N600 and the modem is cactus. I'm getting terrible download speeds and a bunch of drop outs. Normally I'd try to find other solutions but all 4 of my lan ports on the modem are broken so i think its time for a new modem. Atm i live 1.9k from the exchange...

hmmm, didnt end up fixing it. had good internet for an hr or 2 and then lost connection. So back at square one. This time i decided to atleast download+install drivers for my wireless dongle so i can use that for now.

I uninstalled both my network drivers and rebooted. Internet connected straight away. I'll keep you posted if anything changes. Hopefully that resolved it.

Netgear n600 DGND3700v2 and its under a year old. And the wireless on it works just fine. Just having trouble with the ethernet.

Thanks, Think I'm going to go with the asrock z87 extreme6 if i can find a reasonably priced r9 280x gpu. Else I'll probably just leave the mobo and spend the extra money on a 3tb hdd and upgrade my case to the antec 902. Thanks for the time and help.

Is there any point going with a z97 over a z87? I was considering the ASRock Z87 Extreme6, its a bit cheaper and will keep me in my budget. Any opinions on the 2? Or would i be better going with another mobo all together?
