Need help: my computer does not start properly?

Bad news! Regardless of whether it's the PSU itself or the motherboard you'll be looking a replacements parts which would not be cost effective to replace given that those computers are some where in the region of £150 now.

    can core2 Duo 5670 1.8GHz support 4GB DDR2 RAM

The GE45 chipset in your laptop can support up to 8GB memory. Here's a great resource for this kind of thing that's worth bookmarking: http://www.crucial.com/uk/upgrade/HP+-+Compaq-memory/HP+Business+Notebooks/Business+Notebook+6530b-upgrades.html

    Recommendation for new Canon printer

I couldn't agree more that for the budget and your requirements Canon would be the make I'd go for. I have had an MP470 for about 4 years now and it's never missed a beat. The difference between laser and inkjet, whilst it has closed somewhat over recent years, is something of a myth - whilst...

    Recommendation for new Canon printer

Any particular reason behind Canon? Also, is the budget based on the most you can afford or a certain level of quality/ features? I only ask as £150 for an at home inkjet is quite high.

    trouble Installing an OS

Alternatively, to save you wasting discs, you can do the same with a USB stick and an open source freeware application called USB Installer from Pendrivelinux.com. Just make sure you use the correct drive when the USB is attached and remember anything on it will have to be removed.

    trouble Installing an OS

By the sounds of it what you've done is copied the file to the disc rather than creating a bootable cd with it - it's a common mistake if you haven't done it before. Certain software can "mount" the image (ISO file) to a disc, Imgburn is one of the best at doing so. Have a look at their...

Need help! try to find the problem!!!

Potentially, yes. By the sounds of it the battery is dying, hence the steadily worsening issues. It is likely the PSU is the cause but from my experience the PSU fails or works. It is also possible that it could be a memory issue as issues with this can lead to stop errors and system crashes -...

PSU trips when CPU is attached

So a brand new CPU has now been tried also and the issue still remains. For the purposes of testing and to rule out potential issues with the power switch itself I have attached a CPU fan as an indicator as to when the computer is powering on successfully (where it is being tested it cannot be...

    trouble Installing an OS

My guess would be the problem is caused by the way the image has been burnt to the disc. It's much more likely this is the fault than a faulty ODD - presuming it's new.

Need help! try to find the problem!!!

It could potentionally be the CMOS battery that's dead. Given the price of a battery and the age of the machine, presuming it has not yet been changed, this would be the first thing I would replace.

PSU trips when CPU is attached

http://www.mini-box.com/picoPSU-160-XT It's only power the AMD cpu, 2 sticks of RAM, a HDMI output and a network port. When testing yesterday, I again used the known working 350w ATX PSU that I know to working fine. As the only common component here is the CPU, as unlikely as it seems, must be...

PSU trips when CPU is attached

To update, a replacement motherboard has now been tried and the issue remains. A replacement CPU will be tried tomorrow.

PSU trips when CPU is attached

It wasn't a kit, no. I sourced the components individually. Streacom have documentation on their web site detailing the requirements of a motherboard. They also suggest a number, 3 I think, of motherboards that can be used with this case based on size and positioning of parts to allow space...

PSU trips when CPU is attached

That's a very valid point and one worth considering. You are right about the case. For the first month I monitored the temperatures and they weren't cause for concern. Due to the nature of the case, it dissipates heat through the heat pipes and via a heat sink and so until this heat dissipates...
