I've just setup a new build, with a I7 6700 and ASUS Z170-P motherboard, and currently do not have a video card to install with it. At the moment I'm just using the Intel HD530 integrated graphics while I save up for a video card. I've got a Geforce 8800GT hanging around from back in the day...

I do have the fan. It's a single 120mm although I don't see why a second fan wouldn't fit the other side

I've finally dismantled the old computer. Unfortunately I can't identify what model heat sink it is, just that its thermalright. Anyone know a way of identifying a heat sink? Thanks

So if it attaches to the motherboard fine, and the heat sink makes contact with the cpu I should be fine? And if it doesn't use the stock cooler? Cheers

I've just ordered an i7 6700 (non K), and am looking into what to do about cooling solutions for it. I've got a pretty big Thermalright heatsink/fan hanging around that's on a socket 775 Core 2 Duo, and I'm wondering if this will fit on the socket 1151 board, and if so is it safe to do this...

Thanks. Out of curiousity what would make it do risky using the current psu. Is it simply the age of it, or would it just not work?
