Maybe it is just a faulty GPU. Did you try to RMA it?

Did you try to update the driver?

Only Pentium 4. Pentium D didn't have hyperthreading. I hope that we start seeing some HSA implementations on the software side soon. Fusion won't mean anything without them.

Like it has been said get a 2x4 or a 2x8 GB RAM kit instead. Also you should get a windows 8.1 instead of windows 7; it is better optimized for FX CPUs.

If you are going to buy the R9 290x make sure you get one with a good cooler. You can fry eggs on this GPU.
