I'm looking at buying a HP DV5000t here soon and I was looking at memory. HP charges $300 for 2GB of RAM. However, I can get 2GB of OCZ RAM from newegg.com for like $140. Does anybody here have an HP or knows if putting my own RAM in would void the warranty?

OK, I fixed it all!!! First off, I took the card out and the fan wire had been SLIGHTLY jostled out of the connector. that fixed the fan. To fix the "locking", I let the computer boot off the HD, and linux tried to boot! So I fixed the problem by using my linux CD (which has Fdisk on it)to erase...

Thanks for the reply, but I'm actually trying to install windows right now. its going into the setup that the screen turns black. This is my frist PCI-E card so i have no others I can test in there :(. Also I suspected the graphics card also but the fact im getting video during post makes me...

Im building my new computer right now, and my motherboard is the ASUS a8n-SLI premium. It POSTs fine, detects my CPU speed fine etc. however When I try to install windows XP it says to hit any key to start, then it comes up and says its like looking for hardware or something, and the screen goes...

Does anybody know if when you get 2 256mb cards and hook them up in SLI, will it be treated like 512mb or just 2 256 mb cards?

I'm still deciding which parts i am going to buy for my next computer, and now im trying to decide between the 7900 gt or the 7900 gtx. My question has to do with the memory. my last card was a radeon x800 pro 256mb. In doom3 when i set the settings to ultra high, it reccomends 512mb video card...

thanks for the info mdd1963! Well thats my whole dahlemma. It would be silly to spend that much on a 7900 gtx and have the preformance of a 7800gt on account of the CPU. So with that in mind i checked neweggs prices on processors...and the 3500 is around $200. however, the 3700 is only $12 more...
