Well problem with you say "less power" i wouldn't call using 10 less watts then card before it really much improvement. Power difference between 780 and 980 is 75 watts. 250watts(gtx780) vs 175(gtx980)

As for things, AMD over last bunch of years tend to make claims above what the end product ends up being. They claimed bulldozer was gonna get them in the game then well it was complete crap. So real shock in all this, there hasn't been MORE lawsuits over these issues.
