    OK - would you think the earlier BSODs and the current issue are caused by hardware issues? As simple as dust clogging up the CPU/GPU fans, or the need to reseat memory/cards, or actual failing hardware (like bad RAM/PSU)?

    Assuming Windows 7 or higher: look in Control Panel > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change advanced power settings > Power buttons and Lid > Power button action > Shutdown.
