News How to Disable Windows Web Search and Speed Up Your PC

I like the idea of eliminating the web results, not for the performance boost, but to clean up the clutter. It's stuff I simply do not want to see. My default screen is almost always a browser. If I wanted to search the web, there are much better ways than bing.

News How to Disable Windows Web Search and Speed Up Your PC

Doesn't work for me in Win11. I've triple checked the regedit location, dword, entry, everything. I still see web crap. You must have changed some other settings, too.

[SOLVED] Is the i3 8350k worth it for $169.99

It's hard to tell. Do you already have a compatible motherboard? If yes, then all of these 2600's are cheaper replies aren't as valid? If no and you need to buy a motherboard in addition to the processor, then I agree with the replies pointing you to greater bang for the buck AMDs. $170 is...

    [SOLVED] MotherBoard and CPU dilemma

You've left out some details about your parts (e.g. 2133Mhz Hyperx memory could be DDR4 or DDR3). One will work, one will not. I'd build this out on PCPartpicker.com and share the link. That would make it easier for us to look at and analyze without having to look up each part. PCPartpicker...

The Best GPUs For Ethereum Mining, Tested and Compared (Archive)

As a gamer in the market for a new card, I'm frustrated by cryptocurrency. Just frustrated. There is no reason to be angry at anyone. Supply and demand is the way the economy works. I'm not mad at the cryptos for wanting the cards more than me. If they are willing to shell out big $$$ for...

Buy 1080 ti for 900 USD? March 2018

I don't think so. It is a good deal at today's inflated prices, but not a good deal. Availability is increasing and prices are dropping a little. Couple that with recent reports that over 80% of ICOs are a scams and we may be on the verge of seeing the crypto bubble burst. If that happens...

Which Memory for my Build? DDR3 1600 vs DDR3 1866 and Timing

I appreciate the answers but they don't address the timing portion of the question. All things are not equal. Are you saying that the faster ram out weights the timing? Is 1866 always better than 1600 even if the CL on the 1600 is 9, 8 or even 7 vs. 10 for the 1866? I'm just trying to...

Which Memory for my Build? DDR3 1600 vs DDR3 1866 and Timing

I have read the memory FAQ at the top but I'm not sure about the timing, the value and the tradeoffs. I plan to build a system using an AMD FX-6300 or FX-8320 processor. I'm leaning toward the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard. I may overclock but certainly not to the point of water cooling...

Fractal Design Define R4... or wait?

Have you looked at the Quiet Gaming Case and the sub $100 Gaming Case articles? Oddly the more expensive cases do not seem to do as well at cooling. I sorely wish I had picked up the Antec GX700 when it was $30 after rebate. I'm waiting for that price again (fingers crossed) before I begin my...

Four More Sub-$100 Cases For Your Gaming Build, Reviewed

I'd like to propose Tom's stop with the value assessment on this type of article. Value assessments are GREAT when the field is open or spans multiple classes of components (e.g. $650 vs. $1300 vs. $2550 SBM) but it just doesn't make sense when you have already pigeon holed yourself into a tight...

System Builder Marathon, Q3 2013: $650 Gaming PC

How did you get all of these components to run on a 450W power supply much less OC? Asus and Corsair PSU calculators recommend 600-650W PSUs without over clocking. Are we grossly overbuying? Are we being grossly over sold?

Toms (Lower Power) Budget Gaming Power Supply?

Blaise170, I checked out the Thermaltake and eXtreme power supply calculators (the same, I believe) and they put me at 443w. It looks like you have a very similar setup to mine. Do you not feel that the 500 is enough?

Toms (Lower Power) Budget Gaming Power Supply?

Well, these responses are pretty broad so I'm going to follow up with a little more info. The Newegg Power Supply Calculator says I should be able to get away with a 500w supply, barely, if I use the 7850. If I change to a 7870, it goes to 523 recommended. Odd since TomsHardware shows the two...
