Didn't have a game open. It does it randomly, then i unplug cable and plug it back in and the screen comes back on.

My monitor randomly goes black and i can still hear sound like if im watching a video. When i unplug the VGA cable and plug it back in the screen comes back on. What would be causing this issue?
