The GDDR 5 memory is purely for your video card. It has nothing to do with the DDR3 your system has. Most modern systems are DDR3 ram and GDDR 5 graphics memory.

Keep in mind replacing the motherboard requires you to do a full windows re-installation. There is also little point to putting in a multi-generation old cpu. Unless you have a non HP Windows 7 disk you are looking at a new OS with a new motherboard. It may be better to keep using the computer...
