Audio for notifications but nothing else?

I'm not sure what you're asking. I abandoned trying to set up a 3.5mm link between the speaker/monitor and the computer. One wire (DVI/HDMI) from the computer up to the speaker/monitor. Switched the audio output to go to the monitor instead of the 3.5mm jacks. Everything works although I don't...

Audio for notifications but nothing else?

Well, this wasn't the solution I was looking for and I have no idea what I'm doing but I got the audio to go through by routing it through the DVI/HDMI on the video card instead of trying to make it go through the 3.5mm jacks. I still don't know why the jacks are giving me so much trouble though.

Looks like the sound is onboard.

Audio for notifications but nothing else?

Thanks, let me see. I've checked out a lot of the speaker settings, but I have no idea what I might be missing if I am missing something. Also ran the troubleshooter and tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers. I would imagine that everything inside the case is fine...Headphones work okay...

Audio for notifications but nothing else?

Been having this issue with speakers plugged into my system. The problem occurs with both the front and rear audio jacks. Audio plays for system notifications but not for anything else. Youtube, games and other system sounds are all silent. Oddly enough, audio works perfectly when headphones...

Got it. Works great. Thanks for both of your help.

Can anyone recommend a better CPU for me?

I was able to get the 8350 on sale this past black Friday. Works great.

I'm unsure of what type of PSU I need.

One thing I'm wondering about- they both say they come with an FDD/Floppy cable. According to Google, that's the big ribbon cable. Even though the PSU I have now says that it has this, I definitely don't see a ribbon cable anywhere on it. And it seems like it would be kind of unusual for...

Thanks, Rolli. That's very helpful. I think this looks good: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438049&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

I'm unsure of what type of PSU I need.

I don't think I need a super high voltage, but I'm getting vastly different estimates from different PSU calculator tools...I am guessing 600-650 w would be fine. I am hoping to keep this as far below $100 as possible, while still getting something workable. Thanks for the list of PSUs...

I'm unsure of what type of PSU I need.

This is the PSU that I have now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817374049 I think I need to upgrade to one that has at least two 6 pin PCI-e connectors, or at least one 8 pin connector, but I don't know if there's a way to adapt the existing plugs. Trying to get a GTX 950...

Can anyone recommend a better CPU for me?

I think I'm going to go with the AMD fx 8320. It's $119 and I don't have to change the motherboard.

Can anyone recommend a better CPU for me?

I would prefer not to change the board if possible...The i5 for 230 and the H97 would bring me to/over the 300 price point.

Can anyone recommend a better CPU for me?

My current CPU is an AMD FX-4100 Quad Core 3.6GHz...Rather old. I currently use it for stuff like graphics processing. Lots of Adobe programs, mainly Photoshop, After Effects and Illustrator. I would love to upgrade to something that would allow me to play modern games for a while, but I don't...

Do these repair charges make sense to you? Tensioner and belt replacement.

Thanks for the response all. Ultimately I was able to find a shop I had used before that was willing to do it for quite a bit less.
