Solved it! The 3.5" HDD requires a 12V power supply, and I'm pretty sure the plug required is a 1.35x3.5mm one as seen here: I even combined a 12v power supply for a broken laptop with the cord of an old phone charger using the correct plug and it worked just fine.

Sorry about that, fixed the image links now. Thanks, I would prefer finding just the power adapter though as I already have the hdd->usb adapter. I just need to find out what it is called.

Hello, I have a 3.5" hdd (WD, 2.0TB) that I want to plug in to my laptop through usb. My usb connector supports 2.5" and 3.5" hard disks but for the 3.5" I need to connect power to it. I am not sure where to get the power adapter, could anyone give me some advice? The HDD to usb adapter:
