It's not so much the mobo that makes the difference but the power supply & size of the case. Something to keep in mind; Nvidea anounced that the new line of gfx cards will be out soon.

Wouldn't get a "pre-built" in 'new' condition because they come loaded with Windows 10. :P Prefer to get a used gaming rig from amazon, ebay or local classified ad. Last year I picked up a used pc for $50 U.S. It came with preloaded with winXP, 1T of storage, 2 dvd-rw drives, an audigy 5.1...

Not exactly sure how having "spyware" running in the background would increase the fps. Not trying to be controversial. Those are just my thoughts.

Sometimes after a fresh Win7 install there are 2 audio sources ON. Try turning one of them OFF. Another possiblity is a setting Analog vs Digital output.

Yes, BTW it's common for vista drivers to work on XP but you don't need to go that route because there are XP ones available.
