Thanks for your help. I managed to fix this by reinstalling windows by using a windows 7 cd I borrowed from my cousin and then using the product key on my computer. It looks like I lost all the hp things in the process but it's fine as I never used them :)

The first solution is not possible since it was hp who changed those parts after I first purchased the computer and was having issues with it. Can you clarify on what an oem version of windows is and how I would go about getting one? Thank you.
