My purchase was on Amazon using Amazon gift card balance. I called them and was able to get a refund pretty quickly. Those are good suggestions for others who may have gone a different route. I suspect many may have coverage time left with Kaspersky.

I appreciate the advice. Unfortunately due to the way I did the initial reinstall back in March I think an underperforming and possibly failing drive is now assigned as the boot drive and I think this PC is screwed now. Probably going to get a new one this week. Live and learn.

That's what I ended up doing, and what I did the first time. I selected my preferred internal and it did install Windows to that, but it made the 66% drive the boot drive. Both times. Just enabled TPM 2.0 in bios. PC restarted and is on and lit up but now monitor says no signal. I tried both Displayport and HDMI.

Also aside from the error log tools built into Windows that you suggested, are there any other benchmark tools I should look into early on? As the only performance metric I'll be able to gauge without installing and starting a game is going to be boot time.
