I got your point about cell blindness. But, battery technology is changing rapidly and I am not sure whether the 80/40 rule is more relevant for newer batteries or not. That rule helps saving the limited number of Lithium battery charging cycles.
I just bought my new laptop (Huawei D15) and thought about keeping the battery healthy for longer period. Almost everywhere it is adviced to follow The 80/40 rule where you plug in when it's 40% and unplug when 80%.
My question is, how can I maintain that other than looking at the battery...
The freezing with audio loop issue is gone!! I have updated the BIOS of my MSI mainboard. Since then even after using Windows OS, no freezing so far (2 months while typing this).
Upgraded to BIOS version 7996v2H.
Thanks. luckily it gave me the chance to backup the data completely.
To the community: Anyone facing similar issue should immediately backup the data and buy a new one.
Five days back my PC suddenly booted into BIOS and HDD (Western Digital, Blue, 1TB 7.2K RPM) was "Not Detected". Tried changing SATA data cable, power cable, but no luck. Inserted other HDD/SSDs in the same setting and those were instantly detected. I thought my HDD was completely dead until the...
The average day time temperature in my country is around 36 °C. That's why unfortunately can't maintain below 40 °C temperature. May be the problem is in the PCB rather than the disk spindles.
Thanks for your suggestion. I have already backed up data during those two chances I got when it booted up twice. So, it's failing. Ordering a new one then. 🏃♂️
Hi,
3 days back my PC suddenly went to BIOS and I noticed that my Western Digital 1TB 7200 RPM (WD10EZEX) Hard drive was not detected. I opened the case and found that HDD was not spinning. Swapping between other SATA data cables and SATA power cables didn't change anything. Yesterday, I shaked...
Update to the issue:
Today, while troubleshooting the HDD, shaked it a bit out of frustration (obviously for some moderately important data) and connected to MoBo and PC booted up completely normally!! I backed up some data and used it for several hours without any issues.
Then after shutting...
I replaced the PSU with a cheap one just for diagnosis purpose. And found that, PSUs didn't cause the problem of "long press to boot". I cleaned the MobO with alcohol and swapped power button and got it fixed.
Even if I consider PSUs corrupting the boot devices, could this be MoBo too? Because...
I can't disagree totally with you. Two PSUs might have damaged two storage devices. But, the reason I bought a 200W PSU was to diagnose the "long press to boot" issue. For diagnosis, purchasing a costly one didn't seem like a good idea to me.
But, if the PSUs were faulty, then why only the boot...
I am listing the events happened with my PC synchronously:
Two months ago, my desktop PC was taking long press of power button to boot. Posted about it here. And 4 days later, OS crashed and I found that extra cooling fan wasn't spinning.
Switched the power cable of that fan and it started...
I upgraded the MSI BIOS. After that, 1 month passed without freezing. But, point to be noted "It rarely freezes on Linux", so can't tell whether the problem is gone or not. But, now my PC requires very long press of button to boot. Changed PSU, no luck.
