    the strange thing is it was working last night without a problem i was able to install windows. reboot then install drivers ect. running well for over 2 hours. after that the only hardware change was a USB drive was connected. removing it didnt resolve the problem.

    definately reseat the heatsink you should be getting better temps then that at 100% fan assuming your not overclocking. Those load temps are a little worrying its safe max is 62c i believe.

    Automating fan speed depends on how you have connected it. Zalman heat sinks sometimes come with zalman fan controller (little black box with a knob to play with) I believe you need the 4 pin fan connector plugged directly into the motherboard to control it using software.     firstly its an ACER throw it out ;) Are you able to boot into BIOS or boot from a recovery CD? if so it may just be a bad installation of windows or a dodgy hard drive.
