Question Driver issue or failing component

Was using my PC yesterday, when suddenly the screen went black, I heard the usb disconnect/connect sound, and then the screen came back. I’ve never seen it do this before I updated my GPU drivers right after this thinking outdated drivers were what caused the issue. But now I’m starting to...

Question Anyone have any experience with USBRecovery.co.uk

Would you still recommend USBrecovery.co.uk as a good option?

Question Anyone have any experience with USBRecovery.co.uk

As I say, I’m considering using USBrecovery.co.uk. I’ve messaged the guy who runs this a lot online and he seems very knowledgeable and confident that something can be done. However I’m wary about posting the drive off because, to be honest, he could be anyone and claim anything. It’s...

Question Anyone have any experience with USBRecovery.co.uk

In terms of what went wrong with the drive, this thread is hopefully informative - https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/potentially-failing-hard-drive.3812531/ The HDD is a western digital Caviar blue unit. Unfortunately the drive is still screwed into the PC at the moment and I cannot view...

    Question Potentially failing hard drive?

As I say, I simply explained what happened, asked if anything could be done, and was then told that an “image” of the drive would be created on a stable hard drive using professional software. Then, depending on if the image is good enough, this would be used to create a “clone” I have not told...

Question Anyone have any experience with USBRecovery.co.uk

Have you ever sent any hardware off to him, or know someone who has?

Question Anyone have any experience with USBRecovery.co.uk

I’m thinking of sending my failing hard disk off to the PO Box listed on this site. This site appears to be run by an individual who has apparently been doing data recovery for 25 years for various companies and consumers, but he claims not to do advertising and instead contacts clients...

    Question Potentially failing hard drive?

I haven’t sent the drive over yet, I just got in contact with them, and asked what could be done This is what they told me and I just wanted to see what your thoughts were considering there was talk of imaging the drive.

    Question Potentially failing hard drive?

From what the guy told me, the first thing HE would do is image the drive. He would not be using consumer level tools to do this. This is what I have been told will happen.

    Question Potentially failing hard drive?

I’ve explained what occurred to him, and I was told that imaging was the first step to recovering the data

    Question Potentially failing hard drive?

Thinking about sending this off to a professional to image the contents of the drive and then clone this onto a good hard drive. Good idea?

    Question Potentially failing hard drive?

Eeek! Okay, this is exactly what I didn't want to read! I'd been led to believe that there's cloning software out there that can deal with this kinda thing (for example - https://www.diskpart.com/articles/clone-hard-drive-with-bad-sector-1984.html) What are your thoughts on this?

    Question Potentially failing hard drive?

As I've said, almost as soon as I realised the drive was failing, I shut down windows, unplugged the computer and haven't used it since. As I have also said, I'd like to clone the data if that is possible, and I'd do this by installing it into another PC as a secondary drive (so I wouldn't be...

    Question Potentially failing hard drive?

I should point out that, very soon after I noticed the errors in Event Viewer, I took a look at the available space in the C drive and it was exactly the same as it had been before the problems began (would this perhaps indicate no data has been lost? I'm not sure.,..) I then shut windows down...
