News Tesla EVs Used to Mine for Crypto, but Is It Worth the Hassle?

I've seen this story in a few places and the title is SUPER misleading. If you know anything about mining crypto, you'd assume this means it was using the car's CPU to mine, not the battery, as the battery doesn't generate power on it's own. The title feels very clickbaity.

News Nvidia's Ampere Cryptomining Monster GPU Goes on Sale for $4,300

The price per hash is gonna have to get a lot more competitive compared to gaming GPUs, if they want miners to pick these cards over gaming GPUs. Folks seem to be finding code to bypass the "LHR" code in newer gaming GPUs, at least in part.

News Amazon: Don't Blame New World for GPU Deaths, Blame Card Makers

There are some bugs with the game client regarding graphics and resolutions, but I agree that shouldn't kill cards. Hardware should be designed in a way to protect itself, and cards generally are. If cards are dying, then it's definitely faulty card design.

News Valve Post Steam Deck Teardown, Warns Against Doing It Yourself

I'm genuinely impressed with their decision to release this video. It was informative and friendly. They seem to show a clear respect for their customers here. I hope the device is solid build quality and reliable.

News Far Cry 6 Proves Consoles Aren't Powerful Enough for Ray Tracing

I had assumed this was already self-evident. There is no way the new consoles can compete with a 3080 (et.al.) in 4k with ray tracing on.

News Nvidia's CMP170HX in the Wild With 164 MHps of Ethereum Mining Performance

Miners aren't going to buy these over standard video cards if the price per hash rate isn't competitive.

News Chip Manufacturers Stockpile Record Amount of Raw Materials to End Shortage

Assuming you're being cheeky here... =) Silicon, plastic and copper appear to the most common, but other materials are also used: Hafnium: A rare metal used most often in nuclear reactors. It speeds up CPUs. Tantalum: Used on GPU transistors along with palladium to increase chip storage space...

News MSI Stealthily Revamps GeForce RTX 3080 Design Amid Stability Concerns

I'm not sure that's a good apples to apples comparison, but perhaps it's just not that big of a deal. I expect a site dedicated to tech to be more accurate/pedantic than casual conversation. It's not the end of the world, but I don't think it's out of line to hold the bar high for accuracy in...

News Nvidia CEO: GeForce RTX 3080 and 3090 Shortages To Last Until 2021

There is an easy way to not be surprised by demand ... let people pre-order them. I get that not everyone who wants one will pre-order them, but I'm sure there is some data or algorithm you can use to extrapolate from pre-order data. This whole mess seems like it would be solved by letting...

News MSI Stealthily Revamps GeForce RTX 3080 Design Amid Stability Concerns

As someone else mentioned, this article is slightly inaccurate in using the term "POSCAP", rather than "SP-CAP". Perhaps the article should be updated to fix this? POSCAP is a Panasonic specific brand, with an easily distinguishable white pattern on top, whereas SP-CAP is a more generic term...

News GPU Bot Battle: Average Gamers Turn to Bots to Score an RTX 3080

I feel like a lot of the botting could be slowed down by having a limit of 1 card per: shipping address, billing address, IP, email, credit card, etc... (meaning each order has to have a unique version of ALL these items)

News Where and How to Buy an RTX 3080, 3090 or 3070

Yep. Got my email from Nvidia at 7:14am. Checked site at 7:30am. Already sold out.

News Razer Blade Stealth 13 2020 Brings Dedicated Graphics, 120Hz Gaming to Ultrabooks

I will be very surprised if that GPU can do 4k@60fps for any modern games.

News How Much PC Do You Need to Run Minecraft RTX?

Found a typo: " It is worth nothing that slower CPUs.." I'm assuming that should be "noting", not "nothing"

Tom’s Soapbox: An Argument for Ending the PC Vs. Console Debate

I agree. I have a PC and an XB1X. Both are great.
