Thanks for the input, I decided to do a restore and go back to a well known good setup and then reinstall the few programs to catch up to where I was before the problem started. I have never seen blinking icons like that before. I did notice it getting worse also, so instead of a total collapse...

Maybe try and uninstall the update that Microsoft did to you that caused this and see if that fixes, If no change maybe step back one recovery. Your not the Lone Ranger by the way...same crap happened to me as well. Friggin icon light show. Started on a spare harddrive and worked over to system...
